GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL. 💣 SATURDAY, 16TH OF JUNE 2018 👔 HOW TO OVERCOME UNBELIEF TEXT: JAMES 1:6


“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind”

Have you heard this before “unbelieving believers”? That is the best way to describe many of God’s children who believe in Christ Jesus but do not believe in the works of Christ. They believe Jesus as their saviour but not as their healer, they believe that He had paid the price for their sins but they are yet to believe that He had paid the price for their success and breakthroughs. So, they are doubters because they can’t stand on the promises of God. They can’t ask God to give them anything without doubting it. They are never sure that God will do whatever He says.

Who is the fellow that operates in unbelief? He/she is a person who believes in the existence of God but does not believe in the promises of God. He/she is a fellow who believes that God is good but he is not sure whether God will be good concerning His words. This is the point, unbelief is more dangerous than the power of witches, wizards and curses. Speaking about the Israelites, the bible says “So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” Wow, these were the same people that the evil power of Pharaoh could not stop from leaving Egypt, but unbelief was able to stop them from entering Canaan. Witches, wizards and curses could not stop them from gaining their freedom but unbelief denied them of experiencing true liberty.

Doubting God and His word is more destructive than the evil power of darkness. Like our text says “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind” verse 7 continues to say “or let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” This means, unbelief can render many hours of prayers, fasting, giving of seed and kingdom service useless. This also means, no matter how much you love the Lord, if you can’t trust Him, believe in Him, you would not have all He promises to do for you.

Sometimes unbelief is not total disbelief in the promises of God, it is just a belief system that says “what the devil wants to do is more real than what God promises to do”. Now, to conquer unbelief, you must believe that whatever God promises to do is more real than what the devil is planning to do. To overcome unbelief you must always remind yourself that, it does not matter how long and what happens, what God says will surely come to pass because He said in His word “Heaven and earth may pass away but a jolt in His will not go unfulfilled” Psalm 138:2 also said “..For He has magnified His word above all His name.” Hallelujah.

Confession
Father, I believe You and Your word more than I believe the lies of the devil. Your word is true, your word is Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus.

” By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible_ ”

Our text means that the things that are visible were spoken into being from the invisible realm. It means the words of believers can bring into the reality the things that are not physically present now. This is the point, when God wanted to create the heavens and the earth, He had no physical materials, there was no money to use, no man power, no stone or sand, but God made use of the power of His words so that all the things He needed were supernaturally supplied. It also means it is good to speak forth what you want to see before you start pursuing it.

Now, there are spiritual laws to fulfill before you can use the word to frame your world. It is not every statement a person utters that can bring into reality things that are invisible. There are ways to talk for the talk to work. Isaiah 8:20 says “To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” The first law says ” You must speak what you mean and mean what you say” This means, you must speak from your heart and not just from your lips. You must mean it before you declare it. Jeremiah 29:13 says “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart”

This means your heart must agree with your mouth and your mouth must also agree with your heart. What you are thinking must agree with what you are saying. Secondly, you must say it as if it has been done. For instance, if you want to see your word changing your world, you don’t say ” God will do it” You simply say “God has done it. God has blessed me, God has healed me are all languages of faith. Romans 4:17 says about Abraham that he “..was calling those things that be not as though they were” In other words, the way he was able to bring into existence things that were not in existence was that he was calling those things as if they were already in existence. For instance he was not saying “I will be father of many nations” He was actually saying ” I am a father of many nations”

The next thing is to speak specifically. God did not say “Let there be things I need” When He needed light, God specifically said “Let there be light” Also, you must be ready to say it until you have it. You do not say it once or thrice, you say it until you see it. That is the principle of God. It may take you days, months and even years, if you will not change your confession and be persistent at it, what is not visible will surely become visible. Psalm 50:1 says “The Mighty One, God the Lord, Has spoken and called the earth From the rising of the sun to its going down.” God said it until He saw it. And lastly, you must speak with boldness. It takes bold declaration to see bold manifestation. Jesus said ” Lazarus, come forth ” So, what are you declaring with boldness ?

Father, I declare I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. I’m healthy and wealthy. I have broken through in my finances and career in Jesus name.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

Words are powerful, they are instruments of creation and a major pillar in the school of faith. People of faith are conscious of what comes out of their mouths. They consciously choose what they say and how they say it. They are always intentional and deliberate on the words that proceed from their mouth in every situation. Because they know that as every word counts, how the word is spoken also count. Words are the materials that we use to build our world. Our text says “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

This means, by spoken words, things that were not in existence can be brought into existence, things that are not visible can be brought into visibility, things that you desire can be brought into manifestation. This is the principle of God from the foundation of the world, this is the power God gives to His children to bring into reality what they want to see in life. Bible says “God created all things from the things that can not be seen from with naked eyes to the things that can be seen with the naked eyes. This tells every one of us that, everything we need is already available in the invisible realm, it then requires your words and my words to bring them into reality.

It means, if you can say it, you will have it. If you can declare it, you will experience it, if you can announce it, you will possess it. Romans 10:8&9 says “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Your miracle is in your mouth. Hope you heard what you just read? That miracle you are trusting is already in your mouth. Your miracles are ready, they are just waiting for your mouth to vomit them out.

There is nothing you need that is not readily available in the invisible realm and there is nothing in the invisible realm that your mouth cannot bring out. God has created it that all blessings, miracles must answer to the voice of His children. King David said in Psalms 18:44 “As soon as they hear of me they obey me; The foreigners submit to me.” Numbers 14:28 says “Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:” Mathew 12:37 also says “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” You can frame your world with your words, and with your words, you can bring into reality things that need to be in existence. What do you want? Say it now as if you have it.

Father, thank you for your word today. I declare, you have supplied my needs according to your riches in Christ Jesus.

“For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it”

The word of God has power, the gospel has power, but it’s power will never be delivered until it is mixed with faith. If we mixed faith with every powerful word we have heard, our lives would have been better. Hearing or reading the word of God will not work for anyone until the person mixes it with faith. Our text says “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it”

The purpose of any message you hear is to provoke you to take steps of faith, not just know the topic of the message or getting excited by the message. Any message you hear and do nothing about cannot deliever it’s blessing. When God sends any word to you, it is your responsibility to mix faith with it. This means the word is powerless when faith is not mixed with it. The problem is that many of God’s children like the Israelites in today’s text can count great and good messages they have heard, but they can not count how many of those messages have yielded good fruits in their lives because they did not mix it with faith. The word you do not mix faith with will never work for you.

So before you blame the church you are going or your pastor why can’t you ask yourself how many of those words you have mixed with faith? Now, How do we mix faith with the word?
*Believe the word, *Personalise the word, *Confess the word and finally,
*Act the word.
Believe that every word of God is true. God does not make empty promises (2 Corinthians 1:20). What He says He will do, He has done. Bible says “He declares the end from the beginning”. This means before He promises to do anything for anyone, He must have finished doing it before He says it. Hebrews 4:3 says ..”although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.”

Mixing faith with the word means you must believe that God has done it, secondly you must see it that God is talking to you personally. For instance where the bible says” I will bless your going out and your coming in” You must be able to say convincingly “God said that He will bless my going out and my coming in” Personalise the word and finally, act on the word. Never allow any word to go without you asking yourself ” What steps can I take about this message? And make sure you take those steps according to the word of God. When you mix the word with faith, you will not miss your blessing. Hallelujah.

Confession
Father, I believe you, I believe your word is working wonders in my life. As I mix faith with the word, the word will work for me in Jesus name.

GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL. 💣FRIDAY, 8TH OF JUNE 2018 👔 FACTS AND FAITH: HOW TO HANDLE THEM.

TEXT: ROMANS 4: 19
“And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.”

Some believers are confused on the subject of facts and faith. Some think faith is lying or denial of truth. And some will say “Let me say it the way it is, I cannot lie ” They have forgotten that when it comes to faith, you do not say it the way it is, you say it the way it should be. And to some, faith is “whatever will be will be”. Now, we do not need to be confused, facts are facts, faith is faith. Facts are things that we can see while faith is what we cannot see. Facts are things that are happening, faith is what is written. Fact is taking steps based on what is happening while faith is taking steps based on the word of God.

Therefore, in order to operate in faith, you do not need to deny the facts because faith does not deny fact. For instance, when Lazarus died, Jesus did not say Lazarus did not die or Lazarus cannot die, like many ‘faith’ people would have said, He simply said in John 11:11 “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.” This means, after they had told Him the fact, He did not say they were lying or stopped them from saying what they wanted to say, He simply told his disciples the truth which He believed “Lazarus is sleeping, let’s go and wake him up”. Even, after He had said Lazarus was sleeping, and the disciples were still disturbing him, John 11:14 says “Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”

Now, if you look at today’s text about Abraham and Sarah, Abraham did not say “I am not barren and I cannot be barren” because by facts he and his wife were barren but by the truth of God’s word he was fruitful. But what did he do? Our text says “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb”, this means he did not deny the fact that he was barren and at the same time he refused to consider himself and his wife as barren. He did not argue about the fact but he also strongly held on to the truth.

For instance, if a doctor says to someone after conducting necessary medical examinations “You are sick and you have malaria” And the person is saying to the doctor “I cannot be sick and I cannot have malaria” that is not faith but denial of the fact. But the fellow can say “I am going to be well for Jesus had made me whole on the cross Calvary” (This also does not mean he/she should not take medication if need be) Faith does not say yes or no to facts, it simply INSISTS ON THE TRUTH. Imagine a brother that took loan from someone and the lender told him “Brother you are owing me” and he said “I cannot owe you, in fact, I’m not owning you in the name of Jesus” That’s a lie, all he needs to say is “I will pay you because I have been blessed according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Listen to this, what people believe or say cannot affect your faith, it is what you believe and say that can affect your faith. You do not need to argue with the facts or deny it, just simply insist on the truth and your faith will work. Hallelujah.

GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL. THURSDAY, 7TH OF JUNE 2018 FEED YOUR FAITH AND YOUR FEAR WILL DIE

TEXT: ROMANS 10:17
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”

The thoughts of failure and disappointments have been the major reasons many people have not been able to walk by faith. The thoughts like “what if I fail, what if it does not work out” Now, anyone that allows thoughts like these in his/her mind will never walk by faith. Thoughts like these increase your fear and decrease faith. And you know, you cannot walk by fear and walk by faith at the same time, so in order to walk by faith, you must be ready to kill your fear and for you to kill your fear, you must feed your faith. When your faith is fed, your fear will die.

This is the point that today’s text is saying “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. This means faith will keep increasing when we keep hearing and hearing the word of God. It also means fear will keep decreasing when you keep hearing and hearing the word of God. If you have been having problems taking the steps of faith, it simply means you have been feeding your fear instead of your faith. You have been listening to those who are negative.

That was the problem of the Israelites in Deuteronomy 1:28 “Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, “The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there”. The God who delivered them from Egypt had asked them to go forward to Canaan, the land that was flowing with milk and honey, but they could not because they were afraid. And this fear came as a result of what their brethren were telling them daily.

However, for their fear to die, Moses had to feed their faith. In Deuteronomy 1:29-32 Moses said “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place’. Moses also kept telling them this and their fear left. This is simple, stop listening to negative news or going to people that discourage you. Instead, keep listening to the word of God and the people who will encourage you, by that, your fear will die.

Father, as I feed my faith I see my fear die in Jesus’ name.

GOODNEWS DEVOTIONAL. 💣WEDNESDAY, 6TH OF JUNE 2018 👔 ACTIVATING THE SPIRIT OF FAITH


TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:13
_”And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak”

Faith is a spirit but will remain dormant if it is not activated. Every child of God has a measure of faith in him/her at the point of salvation. We are born again with faith. Romans 12:3 says “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” This means any believer who says he does not have faith, is talking out of ignorance because everyone has been given a measure of faith, all we need to do, is activate it and make it grow.

So, you have faith for everything you need, you just have to bring it alive. Now, if you really want your faith to come alive, one of the things to be doing is to consistently speak the word of faith. Faith is activated when the word of faith is constantly and consistently spoken. Our text says “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak”. This means the spirit of faith will come on you at the proportion of which you speak the word of faith. Words release spirit, therefore the word of faith will release the spirit of faith on you.

In Mark 11, when Peter saw that the fig tree Jesus cursed had withered, he was asking how? Jesus said in verses 22 &23 “Have faith in God, For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” This implies that our words can fuel our faith. The bigger and bolder we talk, the better results we get. Psalm 81:10 says “I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it”.

Your mouth can turn your faith on when you constantly declare what the word of God says about you. If it seems you do not have faith for anything, just try this, say what the word says concerning you and the situation with all your heart and you will see changes within and around you. The word of God says ” You are the head and not the tail, you are above only and not beneath, you are more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens you. You are blessed and not cursed, by His stripes you have been healed, all things are working together for your good, the lines are fallen unto you in pleasant places and you have godly heritage. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. You are fruitful and not barren, you are far above principalities and power” Hallelujah.

Father, I thank you. I activate the spirit of faith by speaking the word of faith. I declare, lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places and I have a goodly heritage in Jesus’name.

RELATIONSHIP CAN EXPIRE
Text: ECCLESIASTES 3:6: A time to get, a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away(KJV)
It is not every relationship that is designed to last forever. Some relationships come into existence for a reason, and once the reason is over we should be intelligent enough to call it quit. Some relationships come into existence for a season and once the season is over, we should let it be over. It’s a great mistake to be keeping a relationship that has served its purpose. The relationships that are designed to last are the relationships between God and man, husbands and wives, parents and children. Any other relationships can come to an end. For instance, the business relationship of Abraham and Lot come to an end, yet it did not affect their relationship as uncle and nephew. Abraham ended the business relationship, when he discovered that, his business- relationship with his nephew was over. “And Abram said unto Lot, let there be no strife I pray thee between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we be brethren” (Gen 13:8 ). The reason why many people are no longer on talking terms is because; they have over stayed in their relationships. Business – relationship, Accommodation -relationship and so many others can expire. It is when we keep managing it that we create unending crisis that can lead to many years of bitterness. Barnabas was a great instrument in the early ministry of Paul, but when it got to a point, Paul knew they could no longer do ministry together, Paul called it quit, yet they still remained brothers (Acts 5:36-42). Do not try to keep a relationship that is not giving you blessing but a burden. You must be sensitive. Today’s text says “A time to get, a time to loose, a time to keep and a time to cast away”. Do not over stress a relationship, it can wound you.

YOUR BEST FRIEND
TEXT: Proverbs 18:24: a man has friends must show himself friendly. And there is friend that sticketh closer than brother.
Who is your best friend? Your best friend is not the person you discuss serious issues together, it is not whom you dine and wine together, not the person whom you do everything in common with but your best friend is the friend that brings the best out of you. So the best spouse is the one that brings the best out of his/her spouse. Relationships matter in life and the importance we place on each must not be same. Every other friend is a good friend, but anyone who is bringing the best out of you is very special. Someone who helps you to get closer to God by helping and encouraging you to fulfill the plans of God for your life. Relationship has levels, for instance a relationship that has to do with your destiny, should go beyond social relationship. This is what today’s text is saying “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly. And there is a friend that sticketh closer than brother”. In other words, you may have many friends but there is one you must stick closer to even than your brother. The first yardstick of true friendship for any Christian is our relationship with God. Does his life challenge me to love and serve God better? Or since I have known the fellow is my hunger for the things of the spirit reduced or increased? In Christendom, you cannot just call anyone your best friend if such a person is not adding to your spiritual life. 1Cor 6:14, the bible says “be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness” If a friend makes you to sin, backslide, and discourages your faith. Then no matter how close you are, he is not your best friend but a playing friend. But if a friend challenges you to get better with God, encourages your faith and brings out the best in you, then that fellow is your best friend. This is what Jesus said when he was told that his mother and brothers were seeking for him. The bible says “:he stretched forth his hand towards his Disciples, and said behold my mother and my brother”. Which means, his mother and brothers were his friends, but his disciples were his best friends, because they helped him to fulfill his destiny.

Father, thank you for allowing me to identify my best friend, also, help me Lord to be a best friend to someone in life by helping him/her to be closer to you.

IF YOU ARE NOT A READER YOU CANNOT BE A LEADER
TEXT: 11 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Books are powerful particularly books that are written by Christians and ministers of the gospel. Books are eye openers, secrets-revealers, and contacts of divine encounters. Through anointed books, healing can take place, victory can be experienced and unction can be multiplied. Christians who read only bible and do not read other Christian literatures are missing a lot. Leaders are readers. Prophet Daniel said “I Daniel understood my books” (Daniel 9:2). So, if you see any prophet, pastors or reverend who is not reading bible and Christian books you have seen a false one. Even concerning Jesus, the bible says in the book of Luke 4:17 “and there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias”. And when he had opened the book he found the place where it was written about him. The truth is this, if you do not read the books of those who have gone ahead of you, you cannot go ahead of others. If you do not read the books that others have written, you cannot write a book that many people will read. In the bible, one of the great writers was Apostle Paul, he had a successful ministry. Paul was also a great reader. In the book of 2nd Timothy 4:13, he told his spiritual son the cloke, that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou cometh bring with thee and the books but especially the parchments”. This is why today’s text says “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. Books bring information and without information there will be deformation.
Remember, the wider you know, the faster you will go and the level of your understanding determines the level of your outstanding. One word from one book can change your life forever. Have you read any book this month?
