Despite spending years criticizing Christianity, well-known atheist Richard Dawkins is now admitting that Christianity is much better than Islam.
Dawkins even conceded that “Christianity may actually be our best defence against aberrant forms of religion that threaten the world,” according to The Gospel Herald .
Dawkins noted that Christianity, unlike Islam, does not make use of violent methods to fulfill its teachings. “There are no Christians, as far as I know, blowing up buildings. I am not aware of any Christian suicide bombers. I am not aware of any major Christian denomination that believes the penalty for apostasy is death,” he said.
He admitted that he has “mixed feelings” concerning the decline of Christianity, because this faith-based group might just be “a bulwark against something worse.”
The atheist reasoned that he constantly attacked Christianity in the past simply because it is the religion he is most familiar with, having attended Christian schools while growing up. Even though he was born in Africa, Dawkins and his family moved to England when he was nine years old.
His disdain towards the religion might have stemmed from the sexual abuse he encountered in school, although he used to say: “Horrible as sexual abuse no doubt was, the damage was arguably less than the long-term psychological damage inflicted by bringing the child up Catholic in the first place.”
Because of his parents’ deep love of science, Dawkins followed suit and pursued the field of biology. Even though Dawkins appears to be a logical-thinking scientist, the atheist argues that he is often misunderstood by the media and the public.
“I seem to be perceived as aggressive and strident and I don’t actually think I am strident and aggressive. What I think is that we have all become so accustomed to seeing religion ring-fenced by a wall of special protection that when someone delivers even a mild criticism of religion, it’s heard as aggressive when it isn’t. I like to think I’m more thoughtful and reflective,” he said.

Jan Crouch died early Tuesday.
TBN co-founder Jan Crouch died early Tuesday morning after suffering a massive stroke. She was 78.
“Laurie and I have just watched the transition of our precious mother from this world to the next; watched her step into the presence of Jesus and into her heavenly reward,” Matt and Laurie Crouch said in a statement, “Jan Crouch, known around the world as Momma Jan, has gone home.”
Crouch and her husband, the late Paul Crouch , founded the Trinity Broadcasting Network in 1973. She produced multiple television programs including Praise the Lord , The Glory of America and Say Yes .
“Those who battled for the kingdom of God knew her as a fighter—someone who didn’t give up, someone who fought relentlessly to get the gospel around the world,” Matt and Laurie said. “Viewers of the Trinity Broadcasting Network knew her as someone who partnered with Paul Crouch in the launch and expansion of TBN, and as someone who came into their homes for over 40 years.”
Crouch was the daughter of Reverend and Mrs. Edgar W. Bethany, and grew up in Columbus, Georgia . Her father served as a pastor in the
Assemblies of God denomination, and was the founding president of Southeastern University (Florida) . While attending Evangel College in
Springfield, Missouri , Crouch met Paul F. Crouch.
“To thousands of orphans around the world, and those orphaned in spirit, she was Momma Jan, quick with a smile, a gift and a word of encouragement,” Matt and Laurie said. “To a select few she was not a television figure, but was sister, wife, Mom or Grandma—an integral part of a family.”

The Crouches married in 1957, and have two sons, Paul Jr. and Matthew, both of whom were high-ranking officials and program hosts on TBN. Paul Jr. left TBN in 2011, where “a
memo was circulated … at the network advising people he is leaving,” according to CBN .
“Jan Crouch loved many things, but most of all she loved Jesus, and now has seen Him face to face and has experienced His grace in fullness,” Matt and Laurie said. “She has taken a piece of our hearts with her, but it’s so wonderful to know that Paul and Jan Crouch are together again, in the arms of Jesus.”
According to the TBN website, today TBN and its 26 global networks and affiliates reach every inhabited continent on 80-plus satellites and more than 20,000 television and cable affiliates, as well as via the internet, Charisma News previously reported.
The Crouch family has deep roots in the Assemblies of God. Paul Crouch’s father, two uncles and an aunt were all in attendance at the founding General Council of the Assemblies of God in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 1914.
George O. Wood, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, was among the first of two hosts of daily teaching programs when TBN began with rented cameras in small quarters in Santa Ana, California. Wood taught Bible, and Dr. Jack Hayford taught on prayer.
Close to 80 Muslims at a refugee camp in Hamburg, Germany, have been baptized into Christianity despite the ongoing physical and sexual abuse that Christian converts face at such camps in the Western country.
While Christian converts suffer in great measures at the hands of their Muslim neighbors in Germany, around 80 refugees were recently baptized into Christianity,” International Christian Concern, a persecution watchdog group, noted on Tuesday.
Mohabat News reported that Pastor Albert Babajan conducted the mass baptism of refugees at the camp in Hamburg, revealing that one of the main motives for their conversion is disappointment with Islam.

A crucifix hangs from a tree at a makeshift camp during a day of solidarity organized by local organizations and residents for asylum seekers and migrants at a makeshift camp outside the foreign office in Brussels, Belgium, September 6, 2015.
Shima, one of the converts to Christianity, explained her decision, saying, “I’ve been looking all my life for peace and happiness, but in Islam, I have not found it. To be a Christian means happiness to me.”
Babajan admitted that some of the refugees who choose to convert to Christianity might be doing so because they fear they might be killed if they are sent back home to their home countries, where they face terrorism from radical groups.
The pastor revealed, however, that he has a way of telling whether a person is genuine in their conviction.
“Because the Christian faith changed the way of thinking, the world view. If someone told me that at night he can sleep again or an old enemy could forgive, then I know that in his heart he is a Christian,” he said.
Although many refugees are seeking protection at German refugee camps, a major report by watchdog group Open Doors earlier in May found out that there have been over 300 incidents of Christians being physically or sexually assaulted by Muslims in refugee camps in the country.
A number of such incidents have been downplayed by German authorities who are fearful of growing anti-immigration sentiments in the country, the report alleged, however.
“Despite increased reports about this problem by the media, charities, human rights organizations, church leaders and Christian organizations, German authorities and politicians have hardly ever launched an investigation,” the watchdog group warned.
“Instead, we believe that incidents are deliberately downplayed and even covered up. During confidential discussions with researchers from Open Doors, it has become known that even in police stations, religiously motivated attacks on Christian refugees are not documented as such,” it added.
Back in September 2015, a church in Berlin also reported that it had experienced a large spike in its membership, from 150 to 600 in a short time, due to Iranian Muslim asylum seekers converting to Christianity.
Pastor Gottfried Martens of Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin noted that some of the converts are hoping that their new-found Christian status might help them better their chances of staying in Germany, but said he isn’t worried about the motives.
“I know there are — again and again — people coming here because they have some kind of hope regarding asylum,” Martens told Fox News back then.”I am inviting them to join us because I know that whoever comes here will not be left unchanged.”
