Who is your closest friend or guide? We all have friends but they are not all on the same level of friendship, some are closer than others and one is closer than the rest. However, there is a personality that is closer to me than any friend that I may ever have, and He is the Holy Spirit. In this article I will be sharing more on the Holy Spirit as my closest friend and guide.
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV, emphasis mine).
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come – John 16:13 (NKJV).
I have many friends but none is dear to me as the Holy Spirit. My human friends are wonderful and very helpful, but I won’t trade the Holy Spirit for any of them. My friends are so limited in their ability to help and guide me. They don’t stay with me all the time, they have other things to do too and they can only help me up to the level of knowledge they have.
On the other hand, the Holy Spirit is always with me 24/7. God said He will never leave nor forsake us in Hebrews 13:5. This He has done in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is our Guide that leads us according to the will of God and His unlimited wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He goes with me everywhere I go, so I can reach out for His help any time I want.
He has ears and eyes, so He hears and sees me. His hands are ever available to deliver me from any challenge. He being God is also the Alpha and the Omega, and so is in best position to guide me. He has the answers to all my questions and solutions to the challenges that come my way. The good news is that the Holy Spirit truly wants to help us! With this knowledge I seek for His help and guidance for everything, including helping me to write what will be a blessing to my readers. He has never failed.
He is my confidant and comforter. I tell Him everything and listen to hear His response. Sometimes He chastises me and other times He comforts me, all according to God’s word. Many times He has helped me to forgive people and heal from the pain.
I am a beneficiary of the Holy Spirit’s awesome wisdom; in fact He is my partner in everything I do well. If there is any error or flaw in what I did or am doing, know that I didn’t fully engage His help. He is a great teacher comparable to none. It feels so good knowing that the Holy Spirit is working with me.
The truth is that I can’t do without the help of the Holy Spirit and that should also be the case with you and every other believing Christian. So, make Him your closest friend and guide today.
